Soprano Mihaela Vîrban was born in Vălenii de Munte and grew up in the beautiful area of Teleajănului Valley, in a village called Drajna de Sus. Her artistic career began at 9 with the study of popular vocal music, being a member of the “Ciuleandra” Folk Ensemble from Ploiești, continuing at the National College of Arts “Carmen Sylva” from Ploiești at the Flute section, and then discovering vocal music classical – opera and being admitted on the first place, in 2013, at Classical Singing, within the National University of Music.
In 2019 she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s studies at the National University of Music Bucharest, with soprano Mariana Colpoș as mentor.
Her track record includes numerous awards at national and international profile competitions such as: “Paul Constantinescu” National Competition – 1st Prize, “Ionel Perlea” Slobozia National Lied Competition – 1st Prize, finalist of the “Suzana Szoreniy” International Duo Competition Bucharest, National Lied Competition 2019, Bucharest – 1st Prize.
In 2018, Mihaela became a Scholar of the Union of Romanian Musicians and took part in a series of artistic workshops with representatives of the Metropolitan Opera New York through the Canto Vocal Program.
Her repertoire includes roles such as Adina from “The Elixir of Love” by G. Donizzeti, Zerlina from the opera “Don Giovanni” by W. A. Mozart, Franzi from the operetta “Sange Vienez” by R. Strauss.
