Bass baritone Sergiu NEAMȚU is a graduate of the “Ion Vidu” National College of Art in Timișoara, as a student of tenor Daniel Zah. During this period, he stands out on the “Capitol” stage, as a vocal soloist, together with the “Banatul” Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Radu Popa.
At only 16 years old, guided by master Remus Tașcău, his vocal debut takes place in the prestigious Chamber Choir “Ion Vidu”, with which he participates in numerous tours, both in Romania (Lugoj, Timisoara, Craiova, Oradea) and abroad (Germany, Greece, France). The artistic approach continues in the city of Brăila by playing the role of “Umberto” in the opera “La Serva Padrona”, by G.B. Pergolesi, with the string orchestra George Lyra-Cavadia.
His voice shines in the repertoire of baroque and classical music, which is why, during his studies at the National University of Music in Bucharest, he follows a specialization program in early music, held in Parma – Italy, by Isaac Alonso de Molina, professor at the Conservatory from The Hague.
The lyrical artist collaborated, as a vocal soloist, with the Children’s Comic Opera in the operettas “A Night in Venice” by Johann Strauss (son) and “Crai Nou” by Ciprian Porumbescu. Last but not least, Sergiu Neamțu makes his debut on the stage of the Iași Athenaeum as Leoporello in the famous Mozartian opera “Don Giovanni”, accompanied by the pianist Alexandru Petrovici, directed by Anda Tăbăcaru.
On the TMA stage, Sergiu plays the role of the music master Don Basilio in the show “Figaro Style”, adaptation for children after the opera “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, of the Dragon and of the Prince of Good Will in the musical “Însir’te Mărgărite”, adaptation after Victor Eftimiu but also of Vistiernicului in the musical “Păcală şi Tândală”, adaptation after the famous romanian folk stories.
Along with the vocal group “Ludovic Spiess” and the TMA Ensemble, Sergiu is the winner of numerous awards such as SPECIAL AWARD, awarded by EURO-FOLK ACADEMY, coordinator of international festivals organized under the auspices of EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF FOLKLORE FESTIVALS, UNESCO partner, LAUREATE I – GOLD D WORLD CUP OF FOLKLORE 2020 online or the “Symbol, Tradition and Inspiration” Award at the 16th RYAN INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL – New Delhi, India.
Trivia: Sergiu demonstrated his talent and predilection for the art of music from an early age. He began his vocational career learning to play the mandolin and then the violin, an instrument he focused on until adolescence.
